I decided to try something new last week by adding scent to our outdoor water play!!
So far it is going very nicely. I am buying extracts from the spice section in the grocery store such as mint, almond, vanilla, etc. I add a little to any ice cubes I make for outdoor play as well as in our play water dispensers (brita) and in the water tables too!
The kids really enjoy it, plus they like to talk about what the water smells like. They say how the mint smells like gum and such!! It really makes the outdoor play even more fun!! It is fun to add it to shaving cream too!

Paint station with circular bins that have paint inside, various brushes, some tree branch pieces for painting with, scrubby brushes for painting with, tempera paint in no spill cups, various foam shapes and alphabet foam letters, liquid water colors in spray bottles for Free Painting |
Water ball toss!! Have the child stand back a little and toss different balls and bumpy sensory balls into colored water, they love it and it is a lot of fun to hear the different splash sounds that each ball makes. |
Mega Block Water Table with some food coloring for added ambiance |
minty colored water in both play water dispensers! |
shaving cream on plates in the water table with blue colored water, we have some mixing spoons in there too |
colored water double flower bath with shade. I added hibiscus and a few other random flowers from our yard |
changed the outdoor container pond to one and added a filter |
no Florida home is complete without a gaudy plastic pink flamingo, I think it may be a state requirement to have one. |
crawl through play tunnel in the club house climber = FUN!! |
all of the kids love it and there is space on the other end to stand up and get ready to slide down the slide |
closer view of colored flower bath, so pretty and fun sensory!! |
