Homemade Honeycomb Candles + giveaway

We received a really fun Homemade Honeycomb Candle Activity Kit from Nature Watch, and we love it! Nature Watch is allowing us to hold a giveaway for this kit too!  The kit contains enough materials for 25 projects.  So you can use the kit for a group of 25 children, or you and your family could make 25 candles. The kit also contains 25 real honey sticks for tasting, and an activity instructors guide with some really great information.

This kit is great for Homeschool use, Homeschool groups or co-ops, Unit Studies, Classrooms, Parties, Summer camps, sleepover activities, nature groups. forest school, girl scouts, boy scouts, church groups, family reunions or large family gatherings, or anything you can think of.

It's fun, easy, and does not take a lot of time to make the candles. I do suggest that a parent or responsible adult always be present when the candles are lit. This kit can be used for ages 4 and up.

They do not come with candle holders, but you can easily stand them up on a plate or in a small glass. We used a small plate for some of them, and a small glass for some of them.  The small glasses we used were from parfaits purchased from Costco a few years ago.  I had saved and washed them in the dishwasher.

My twins have been homeschooled since preschool, so we used this kit for a lovely bee unit study. We paired the kit with a few books, Professor Noggin's card games, and used the echo dot for some great information as well.

What is this kit all about?  Here is some really great information from the Nature watch website to give you an idea of what this kit is all about.

Make your own honeycomb candle! Taste real honey made by bees! This amazing Nature Watch Activity Kit appeals to each of the 5 senses! If it's one insect that kids know a little bit about... it's bees. But most kids only know about the part that hurts! Honey bees are fascinating creatures to study and they play a critical role in our food chain. Ages 4 and up. This kit contains real honey.

Unit Goals and Concepts:
  • Learn about the colonies that honey bees live in and the role that workers, drones, and queen bees play.
  • Discover how bees make honey and honeycomb, and what they use it for.
  • Feel a piece of honeycomb and taste real honey!
Materials Included:
