And what advice would you give for my household, one child who is getting close to 3 and one who is 15 months? The almost-3 is capable of learning and mastering a 'system' like this, but the young toddler ... well, you can imagine how well it would work. Would the only option be to be with her all the time and take out 1 thing at a time? I like to let the kids play independently so I can get stuff done! Currently we rotate our toys, try to have a place for everything, and only keep about 10-12 things out at a time, total. Thanks for any ideas!Louisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17094327375260668785noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7573661352003474731.post-25699602069688247112012-11-12T21:05:45.027-08:002012-11-12T21:05:45.027-08:00hoping mine stay good at it!!hoping mine stay good at it!!Kristen Stehlihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09939279496363821742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7573661352003474731.post-67455231446390451142012-11-07T05:46:55.593-08:002012-11-07T05:46:55.593-08:00Mine used to be pretty good when they were younger...Mine used to be pretty good when they were younger and I was pretty hot on clearing up. At age 1 ...I made my 2 clean up starting at age 1. At age 1 I had them take a toy shopping cart through house and put toys on the floor in it. Then I would put them away because at that point they weren't capable. We slowly graduated to them putting the little ppl in the little ppl drawer and so on with my direction while sorting through the shopping cart. We have clear bins for everything. I actually disagree with when they dump something you send them out of room and clean it up. NO WAY. I don't clean up the toys, they do and they cannot play with anything else until they cleaned up the toy they dumped all over. My kids always have had to clean so senseless dumping of stuff never happened because I think they figured out early they will only have to clean it up. The easiest way to get them to be neat is to have a 'spot' to put away every toy that is easy to do for them. I have the boxes with photo method too. I actually don't like the ikea systems because the bins aren't clear and I think kids need to see their toys at this early of an age. They don't remember they own it. My kids are capable now at just turned 4 of putting all toys away on their own w/o me having to remind them too often. They also can manage a ton of small pieces to toys and not lose them!Dinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14150547606166866243noreply@blogger.com
